I am tired of the NFL. I am tired of Roger Goodell, Brett Favre, ESPN and the steady diet of spin that they and the rest of the NFL establishment feed to us on a daily basis. I am tired of inconsistent and arbitrary suspensions and fines, coupled with arbitrary and hypocritical inaction based on the whim of the moment or some PC consideration. I am tired of near $1,000 ticket prices, over-exposure and over-hype. I am tired of multi-billion dollar luxury box boondoggles. I am tired of millionaires fighting billionaires in "labor" disputes while the rest of us pay the price.
I am tired of game coverage that is little more than the networks showing off their high-tech graphics, special effects and "gangsta"-style street lingo. I long for the days when the game itself was the story instead of the media coverage becoming the story.
But most of all, I am tired of the fact that the films and highlights from the NFL's classic era gather dust on some shelf - inaccessible to the public - while the rest of us are fed the latest ESPN ("NFL insider") spin about some nonstory of the day that amounts to little more than an NFL press release.
This blog is what I am doing about it.
